February 2008 - Florida Vacation

Another vacation come and gone...it's our only real vacation for the year, a little bit of business with a hardware buying show, but mostly vacation - spend time with John's mom in St. Augustime, relax in Orlando and do some tourist-y things. Here's the breakdown
Tuesday: fly to Orlando and then drive up to St. Augustine Beach to spend a few days with John's mom. When we got there - spent time playing & walking on the beach for hours - then met John's mom for dinner and another moon-light walk on the beach & the pier.
Wednesday: Tyler had flu-like sypmtoms the first 2 days, but he was a trooper and went to the Old Fort in St Augustine, did a nature walk, went to some beaches and stuff. By day's end, Tyler was beat, but we all had a great time, and even some sun.
Thursday: On the drive back to Orlando afterwards, a little drizzly, we spent a few hours driving down Daytona Beach - that was fun, playing in the waves, being attacked by a flock of seagulls (isn't that a 80s rock group?) and just enjoying the sights. We even ate in a 1950s diner (yup, we've been watching too much Food Network). We go to our hotel in Kissimmee at a place called The Liki Tiki, but had a great time - we had an entire suite with our own master bath with jacuzzi tub and balcony overlooking the harbor & lagoon.
Friday: Had to do our one-day of work, the entire day at our hardware buying show in Orange County Convention Center - but now that we've done it for 4 years, we have it down pat. Tyler's old enough that he was able to just cop a squat with his IPod and Ninentod DS and a few books and recouperated. Erin sat in a shopping cart and looked very cute and got a lot of give-a-ways. We just grabbed a pizza after a long day of walking around and hung out at our suite. We did find out that Connecticut is getting 6"+ to snow tonight & tomorrow - glad we're missing it.
Saturday: Even though is was gray, it was warm - mid 80s. We decided to hang out at the hotel - they had a small water park, mini golf, peddle boats, bumper boats and just a great time. There was about an hour of heavy rain - glad we decided not to go to a Disney park today. At evening, we went to Medievil Times Dinner Theater - it was awesome seeing the knights joust, the horses, eating with our hands and cheering on our knight during combat!
Sunday: Went to Epcot - WOW!! With Erin & Tyler being older, we can really enjoy all the rides and attractions and walk through the park without hearing (I'm tired, I'm hungry. etc.) We went on Test Track & Mission Space 4x each - lots of fun - a lot of lines, but Disney does know how to keep it moving.
Monday: Got ready to fly home at noon - not looking forward to the piles on my desk at our store or the snow. Thanks to our dear friend, Lori, we got our Southwest Air boarding passes with a good seating number (A41), so we were able to board close to the front and get seats together. We got home around 3:30, and was able to relax and unpack, get our dog, Gracie, from our friends' house. Even went to the store after hours, and regretted that! But overall, we had a great time off - much needed
